District Development Sub-Committee

Purpose

  • When an application is received the sub-committee will meet via email, teleconference, phone or Area Assemblies whatever is best for timeliness and accessibility to review and consider the proposal(s) and will notify applicants within one month of receiving the proposal of the sub-committee decision.
  • They will reply in writing to all proposals regarding the amount of approved funding, as well as changes, if any were made to the submitted proposals, and they will give reasons for rejections if a proposal was rejected.
  • The sub-committee will assist with proposals as needed and gather information on available resource materials and people to carry out workshops.

Guidelines

  1. All proposals will include:
    • the purpose of the workshop or AA event
    • the activities to be carried out
    • dates
    • location
  2. Proposals will be submitted to all District Development Sub-Committee members once a need is identified and a proposal is formulated
  3. Priority will be given to district workshops on service-such as structure, traditions, concepts and the roles of the positions within the service structure.
    • Resources people for workshops should have experience in service and have some proven history in conducting workshops and service events i.e. DCMs, Table Officers, Delegates and Trustees.
  4. If funds are available in lieu of Option 3, the committee would approve travel for a General Service Representative (GSR) or a group member if a group is very isolated (as per the definition of a remote community) and has never attended an assembly previously, or has not been to an assembly for at least five years. Factors to be considered prior to application and approval would include:
    • available group funds;
    • available district funds;
    • past service people within the group/district that would be available for workshops for the group;
    • that the GSR would inspire the group, etc. to follow the Seventh Tradition and self support;
    • that if an AA member is funded to attend an AA service function or event they be in full attendance at the event;

Members

  1. The District Development Committee a sub-committee of the Area 91 Remote Communities Committee and will consist of six present members of the Remote Communities Committee (RCC), the Remote Communities Chair, a Remote Communities Co-Chair, and four current RCC members in attendance at the Remote Committee meeting; if more than 4 interested the members will be drawn from a hat. The committee is responsible to the Area 91 Remote Communities Committee.
  2. The chairperson of the committee will be the Area 91 Alternate Delegate.
  3. The chairperson of the RCC has the right to appoint interim members if a vacancy occurs on the committee if a substitute member cannot be appointed at the Area 91 Spring or Fall assembly.
